It’s not that you don’t want to be in the picture with your kids, it’s just that as a busy mom sometimes life gets in the way. If you’re anything like me, reasons for not getting in the frame are a bit ridiculous sounding too – I’m not wearing makeup! My hair looks plugged in! But I look so tired! (Yes, these are my instant reactions to having my photograph taken, and I’m a photographer! So… yea, I understand.)
Or what’s even worse, we may have at least an assortment of selfies with our kids, but how about an actual photo? An image where a photographer’s purpose is to observe you and your kids together, to focus on you and capture how you: embrace, cuddle, laugh and love on each other? An intentional moment where we all recognize the importance of observing and documenting the memory of this stage in your life?
So here’s the real difference between using a cell phone to capture a selfie moment versus asking someone to truly document you, to really see you with your children:
A cell phone image is rushed. There’s no real time to think about composition, or the story you want to tell about your mothering days. It is a snapshot.
// I, however, want to be there just after you’ve whispered, “I love you to the moon and back.”
// Or, while you smile because she’s taken you by surprise with an unbelievable, “I love you this much!” cuddle.
// Or, when you just plain admire how beautiful she is, inside and out.
With our gardens springing back to life, spring is the perfect season to celebrate being a mom. I would be thrilled to help you capture the joy, all the details, and the significance of this stage in your family’s life.
